Our pick for pets and kids is Monvane, because every cushion has a zip-off, washable cover. If you'd rather wipe than wash, Rove Lab's spill-resistant fabric is the alternative, and you can return it within 100 days.

Why boneless couches work well with kids

No hard frame or corners to bump into, and no legs to climb or tip.
Low seats that small children can get onto by themselves.
Modules rearrange into a play area or a floor bed for sleepovers.

What to watch with pets

Claws and loops don't mix. Corduroy and chenille have raised textures that claws can catch. A flat, tight weave holds up better.
Pet damage usually isn't covered. Boneless Couch Living says so directly, and Monvane's warranty excludes accidental damage and misuse. Plan to protect it with a throw.
Accidents need fast blotting. On a couch without removable covers, liquid can reach the foam. How to clean each brand.

Our take: washable covers matter more than anything else in a home with pets or small children. That makes Monvane the practical choice, as long as you're sure about low seating, because it only takes back unused sofas.
